Why Water Efficiency?

Poor irrigation scheduling—watering too often and for too long—is the primary source of water waste associated with landscape irrigation. Commercial and residential outdoor water use in the United States accounts for more than 7 billion gallons of water each day, mainly for landscape irrigation. As much as half of that is lost or wasted due to evaporation, wind, or improper irrigation design, installation, and maintenance.

Across the country, our growing population is putting stress on available water supplies. Between 1950 and 2000, the U.S. population nearly doubled. However, in that same period, public demand for water more than tripled! Americans now use an average of 100 gallons of water each day—enough to fill 1,600 drinking glasses! This increased demand has put additional stress on water supplies and distribution systems, threatening both human health and the environment.

There's a reason that water has become a national priority. A recent government survey showed at least 36 states are anticipating local, regional, or statewide water shortages by 2013. But by using water more efficiently, we can help preserve water supplies for future generations, save money, and protect the environment.

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) estimates that homes with in-ground automatic sprinkler systems use 35% more water than those without in-ground systems. And water use for households using automatic timers for their irrigation systems use 47% more than in-ground systems that are operated manually. If you have an automatic sprinkler system, try not to use your timer unless you are going to be out of town. Timers aren't very smart and very wasteful if there not adjusted to the seasons.

Evapotranspiration (ET data) allows our ET based controller to determine watering run times required to keep your plant healthy as well as saving water by decreasing your watering times automatically at time of the year when your plants are under less stress. Water saving can range from 20% - 50% while runoff is virtually eliminated.

Real Time : Our ET based controller calculates evapotranspiration (ET) in real time based on actual weather readings monitored 24 hours a day on-site. It has been said, "If you don't like the weather, just wait a day because it will change." This reality is ignored in satellite-dependent control systems with weather data transmission delays and monthly service fees. Our ET based controllers are constantly in real time communication with the On-Site Weather Station for immediate notification of a rain event.

With no service provider dependence, no recurring maintenance, and no user fees, Our ET based controllers pays dividends on your one-time investment every single month.
